Rachel Hills Joins Us On Sex Talk Tuesday To Discuss Reclaiming Sex Positivity.

January 19, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Rachel headshotRachel Hills is an Australian writer living in New York City, who is interested in the space where the personal meets the political. Her work has been published in publications including the New York Times, Vogue, NYMag.com, Cosmopolitan, The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, and many others. Rachel’s first book The Sex Myth: The Gap Between Our Fantasies and Reality examines the invisible norms and unspoken assumptions that shape our experiences of sex, and was published by Simon & Schuster in 2015.

Quotes: “Sex positivity isn’t just about celebrating sex. It’s about challenging sexual shame, and creating a culture in which people are free to engage with sexuality in whatever way is right for them.”

“Especially outside the sex educator and activist communities, a lot of people seem to think of sex positivity as a kind of cool girl/guy fashion statement; an “I love sex, therefore I am more enlightened/liberated than you are,” kind of thing. Or else they see it as intimidating, a label that demands they behave in a particular way. In my chat, I want to explore why this is, and what we can do to challenge those misconceptions.”

Join us on January 5th to talk with her!
